Questions people actually ask
I don't have an SSN. Can I use this?
Yes — that's most of why it exists. The profile asks whether you have an SSN, never the number, and the answers change accordingly: which banks open an account on a passport, which carriers don't ask for one, what to have ready instead of US credit. Each of those answers carries its source and the date we checked it, because these policies change.
One thing we won't fake: almost no listing says anything about SSN — we looked, and across the current listing set the word appears essentially never. So we don't claim to tell you per-apartment whether they'll want one. What we do is tell you what to ask before you pay an application fee, and flag the requirements a landlord did put in writing.
I'm self-employed. I have an SSN and credit — I just don't have pay stubs. Is this for me?
Yes. The wall most people hit isn't the SSN, it's proof of income in a format the landlord recognises. You can tell us what you actually have — 1099s, tax returns, bank statements, an offer letter, a co-signer, or the ability to prepay — and we check that against what each place will accept, then hand you the question to ask where it isn't written down. Founders with no salary yet, people between jobs, people back from abroad with no U.S. income, and anyone living on savings are in the same position. See who this is for.
Will it sign a lease or open an account for me?
No. It prepares, compares, drafts and follows up. Signing, opening accounts, paying and government filings are yours to do — or we point you to someone licensed. We're a software company, not a broker, bank, lender, or immigration or legal service.
Do you take a cut when I sign a lease?
No. No commission, ever. We only take money from the people using the product.
Can providers pay to rank higher?
No. No paid placement for banks, carriers or landlords. Ranking follows your profile and verifiable facts, and you can open up the reason behind any ranking.
Does my information go to landlords?
Only what you put in a message you approved. We don't sell or share your data, and we don't hand your profile to anyone. The privacy page lists exactly what we store — note that we keep whether you have a qualification, not the numbers behind it.
Will it email or call people as me without asking?
No. Mail goes through your own Gmail after you connect it and approve that message; every call has a confirmation step and the AI identifies itself on the call. You can also set the agent to drafts only, and then it sends nothing at all.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes, in one click, from Manage subscription on the pricing page — no email, no phone call. It takes effect at the end of the period you've already paid for.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Cancelling doesn't delete anything by itself — your account stays and drops to the free tier. If you want it gone, use My profile → Delete my data, which removes the profile, saved places, commute points, projects, activity log and your corrections, and revokes the Gmail authorisation with it.
Why does my statement say deciqAI?
Put Roots is a product of Deciqai Inc. That's us, not a fraudulent charge.
Will I definitely get the apartment?
No, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. What you get is the preparation: the places you can actually qualify for, the requirements checked one by one, the documents ready, the messages sent and followed up. The decision belongs to a landlord or a bank, and we don't control it.
